This is sexual harassment, I tell you!

Please tell me that somehow you're sexually assaulted after reading this. Because I do. How could you not be when statements like "keras, kasar and panjang" (hard, rough, long) is written in bold on an ad for male virility. It's practically porn! And since I have to pass by this horrendous banner to-and fro work, I'm practically assaulted twice a day!!

What is it with Malaysian with horribly graphic and blatantly sexual advertisements? It's bad enough that we see these kind of ads plastered everywhere on buidings and street corners but we also have to endure these crass displays on TV too. The worst is probably the coffee advertisement with the genie as the mascot. And the one with M. Rajoli and wife in it. Even thinking about those ads simply make me cringe. Seriously, do Malaysians enjoy these vulgar promotions?

I'm just thanking God that I havent seen any ads for female virility. I shudder at the thought of what euphamisms they may use to describe the female anatomy. brrr...

Azman: I know!! I was actually thinking the same thing when I saw the ad. I dont think I can ever look at Superman and not think sbout the "keras, kasar, panjang" statement ever again. Curse my hyperactive brain cells!!

Fasyu: Kan... kan Fasyu? I saw another one of the same kind of ads when I was waiting at a traffic light. Yang tu pun agak teruk gak. I think the slogan was "dijamin spring return". Haih, ntahpeape je la diorang punye iklan sekarang ni.

The company should be sued for copyright issue. Not to mention for defaming the world's favcourite superhero. Who in his/her right mind would describe Superman as 'Keras dan Panjang'? I mean, it's bad enough the guy is stuck forever with his red knickers worn over blue spandex.

Dear All,

The sad fact is, this is the standard of advertising in Malaysia. The problem is not only in the context but in the placement of the ads.

We need proper guidelines on what can appear where. In case SIS or other women NGOs are reading this, it is not only about Islamic virtue per say, but also about protecting the minds of our young and indeed we are talking about exploiting the human body for commercial gains.

Let's face it, some of the ads are porn.

Considering that we call ourselves an 'Islamic' country this makes it thrice worse.

But the problem does not begin and end with 'vulgar' and uncouth virility ads like these ones. Consider even 'classy' ads of spas, health products, gyms and pretty much everything else.

Tell me which category does NOT use the naked female form or scantily clad one in it? Some use male form as well.

NONE I'd say. 'Uncouth' ads like the one you mentioned and 'classy' ones in our mainstream TV, news paper and magazines use that very usual ad principle, sex sells.

Sex appeal, direct reference, oblique quotes and everything else goes.

We wonder why rape, incest and 'zina' (pre-marital/out of wedlock sex)cases are rampant. It is these open influence of 'soft' porn upon our presence everyday. Day in, day out. (Ohhh careful oblique reference here)

Call me a prude but as I see it. This is the truth. Sad pat is we are so de-sensitized by it that we no longer notice. Especially the classy ones. We only see the crass vulgar ones as problematic.

Hazlan: I totally agree with what you've said. We really do need to set a guideline on what our advertisement should be like. I think that some of the ads nowadays are simply getting out hand and I cringe at the thought that children can simply see these kinds of ads at anytime anywhere.

Zetty: I wonder what Stan Lee (he invented Superman right?) would say if he actually stumbled upon this picture and my blog post. Would he be happy to know that Superman is considered to be such a stud in this part of the world? LoL

Syd: Ok u kata: Haha I wonder what would it take to actually shock you :P

Damn! Wish I could see it myself.

Keras, Kasar dan Panjang.

Makes me wish I thought of the tagline myself. Hahahahaha

Elyna: Haha... that tagline has been the butt of many jokes in our daily conversations. whoever came up with that horrendous tagline has given my friends and I plenty of laughs. So for that I thank him. LoL

TAPI entah la, i kot yg over-reacted...Haha...

As I've told you before, I shall tell you again! Here is what I saw on an appalling ad on female... I really don't know how to put it. *Sigh.

Anyway, two of the products endorsed by Anita Sarawak are named as below:

Rapat Indah.
Kemut Ajaib
