Bumbling Mumblings

I have finally found a way to change my blog background *Yeay!* However I have not found a way to actually make the background big enough to encompass the whole blog. So for now I'm making do with a repetitive image. So far I'm happy. It's simple enough yet I have stamped enough of my identity on the blog. Will continue tinkering though...

And I have also found out the name of my phobia. Let the world be known that I am a Hemophobic.

Hemophobia or Hemaphobia or Hematophobia- Fear of blood.

Yes I get squemish at the sight of blood. No I don't close my eyes when I watch gory scenes in movies *I can tell the difference between fake blood and real blood, you know*. And yes I am sometimes woozy at the sight of my own blood. But only when it is in large quantities *I'm not a wuss*.

Hence any career within the medical field is totally out of the question for me. Not a loss at all for me.

If any of you out there feel the urge to look up your own phobias, check out this site: The Phobia List

A HUGE congrats to Kak Umi, Umi Kelsom Nayan, for safely delivering a baby girl. Let's all welcome Nur Ameerah Dzakiyah into the world *shall post a picture of her when I go and visit Kak Umi (",)*.

Congratulations
Kak Umi

"A baby is God's opinion that life should go on. Never will a time come when the most marvelous recent invention is as marvelous as a newborn baby. The finest of our precision watches, the most super-colossal of our supercargo planes don't compare with a newborn baby in the number and ingenuity of coils and springs, in the flow and change of chemical solutions, in timing devises and interrelated parts that are irreplaceable."

Oops... wrong info!

There is a factory in Northern Minnesota which makes the Tickle Me Elmo toys. The toy laughs when you tickle it under the arms.

Well, Lena is hired at The Tickle Me Elmo factory and she reports for her first day promptly at 8:00 AM.

The next day at 8:45 AM there is a knock at the Personnel Manager's door. The Foreman throws open the door and begins to rant about the new employee.

He complains that she is incredibly slow and the whole line is backing up, putting the entire production line behind schedule.

The Personnel Manager decides he should see this for himself, so the 2 men march down to the factory floor.

When they get there the line is so backed up that there are Tickle Me Elmo's all over the factory floor and they're really beginning to pile up.

At the end of the line stands Lena surrounded by mountains of Tickle Me Elmo's. She has a roll of plush red fabric and a huge bag of small marbles.

The 2 men watch in amazement as she cuts a little piece of fabric, wraps it around two marbles and begins to carefully sew the little package between Elmo's legs.

The Personnel Manager bursts into laughter.

After several minutes of hysterics he pulls himself together and approaches Lena.

'I'm sorry,' he says to her, barely able to keep a straight face, 'but I think you misunderstood the instructions I gave you yesterday...'

'Your job is to give Elmo two test tickles.

*lmao. Get it?*

Dance Battle Update

As promised I now bring you the update to the M&M vs. ACDC online dance battle. According to their latest post on YouTube, they aim to END the dance battle this coming June 10th.

Hmmm... can they actually 'bring it'?

Here's a teaser for their latest dance vid.

Well... looks pretty promising but I don't think ACDC is scared much. They're pros!

Anyways, get online June 10th and let's see if Miley and Mandy has what it takes.

Graffiti is ART!!

Graffiti has never been considered art. I don't know why but it seems that for most people graffiti is just scribblings on the wall that deface properties and 'uglify' conformity and uniformity. This mindset is too outdated. I think its high time people change this perspective.

Graffiti in a way, is like a blog. It's a means of expression in which you express with your art rather than your words. Art is no longer for art's sake nowadays. In today's world... art speaks. And for those creative artists, they show the world what they're thinking of in the graffiti.

A few months back, KL had an extensive display of graffiti art all along the bank walls of Sungai Klang (I think its Sungai Klang, correct me if I'm wrong), which can be seen clearly from the Pasar Seni Putra LRT. They were great works of art, colourful and tasteful. No vulgarity, no offensive words or pictures. They actually made the grey, drabby sights of the dirty river nice to look at. But most importantly they send out a message to the community. Look closely and you'll see messages against rape, truancy in school, and war. What more could you ask for in art?

But alas... since to some people graffiti is still considered graffiti, they were painted over with white paint. The pictures below are a tribute to the nameless artists who wents against the norms and helped beautify the ugly sights of KL. Even if the government doesn't appreciate you, we the normal citizens of the city does.

Now these amazing creative expressions are gone but "The MAN" can never hold the people down. It may take some time to get back the cool graffiti wall that was there before but I see there are already people working on it. I wish them the best of luck and hopefully someday the Great Graffiti Wall of Klang River will be returned to its former splendour.

Wedding Fever

Wedding season is back!! Now that the schools are out, weddings are in!

Attended my first wedding of the season just the other day and thank GOD it started off on a good note *I usually hate weddings*. Now although my friends and I were lost for nearly an hour but we were greeted by a beeyootifull bride and a handsome groom. That warms our hearts a little bit. Then we met some old friends which made our hearts even warmer. Got sum cake in a cool box *yeay* and finally the FOOD!!

Yes... Food is always the main highlight of any kenduri. If the food sucks then your rep will fall way down. If your food is good then people will remember your wedding for a long time. So yeah, the food at Tini's wedding was gooood...

So good that I didn't have any appetite left for TGIF's food. Now that is unusual for me*I LOVE TO EAT!!* Til now I can still remember the taste of the nasi minyak and gulai kambing. Yum!

Starting the wedding season with good kenduri food is surely a sign that the season will be a good one. So with this happy note I look forward to the next wedding. Intan's kenduri... Here I come!!

CONGRATULATIONS
Tini & Syakir

The Biggest Online Dance Battle...

This is what happens when people have too much time on their hands. They know pretty much everything that is rather unnecessary that is going on about in te internet world. So my unnecessary trivia for the moment is...

The Online Dance Battle between M&M and ACDC.

Brief intro... M&M stands for Miley Cyrus and Mandy Jiroux, the BFF duo that came up with their own online Youtube show called 'The Miley and Mandy Show'. The show is basically a video blog of them rambling about anything and everything that interests them. ACDC on the other hand stands for Adam / Chu Dance Crew. Chu was the director of 'Step Up 2: The Streets' and Adam was an actor in the movie. They too have their own video blog on Youtube. So out of fun they decided to issue a dance challenge to Miley and Mandy. Check out their challenge video...

So yeah... The were really good. So did M&M respond to the challenge?

They sure did!! Check out their dance video.

I hafta say that they did a really good job and considering that Miley is not really a dancer she danced well. And having Channing Tatum and Jenna Dawson from 'Step Up' to dance on their video was a good touch. ACDC did say that they can recruit just about anybody. And judging from the response, most Youtube viewers preferred M&M's dance video.

Round 1 - Miley and Mandy!!

Round 2, ACDC steps up their game. Taking a leaf from M&M's book, they recruited, I think everybody they could think of and came up with the coolest dance video so far. Check it out...

So far the response is phenomenal. And with this video, I must say that ACDC may win hands down. M&M seems to be taking a long time to respond so its either they're taking a long time to come up with a really good and fantastic dance vid to counter ACDC or they have given up altogether. I really hope its not the latter.

Anyways, this is the end of today's unnecessary trivia. Though any further news on the dance battle shall be posted in this blog for those who actually care enough to read it. Now... I shall be off in search for more useless info.

Pak Lah vs. Mahathir

Tun Mahathir and his wife are leaving UMNO. The latest "scare" in Malaysia's political scene. It is Tun's latest ultimatum for the resignation of our PM. So what is Malaysia supposed to make of this? Hmm...

I've been brought up by a mother who is major propagator of Malay rights and heritage thus at this time of political confusion within the strongest Malay political group in Malaysia, my ears are constantly bombarded by my mother's view of how Tun is embarassing the Malays and this is the chance that the other races in Malaysia would take advantage of in order to gain political control of this country. Yeah... pretty strong views for a high school principle don't you think?

So where do I stand in this political turmoil? Do I mirror my mother's sentiments? Should I?

Out of all the Prime Ministers of Malaysia, Tun Dr. Mahathir has always been the one that I have most looked up to. But would the stepping down of Pak Lah change anything at the moment? Would his leaving UMNO actually leave a lasting impact on the party itself?

I must admit that UMNO's loss of the 2/3 majority in the latest elections should be a blow to all hardcore UMNO supporters but to think about it... wouldn't it be a good wake up call for our Barisan leaders. They've been in power for so long that it is very likely most of them have become complacent. I for one, rejoice over the fact that Samyvellu lost. It's about time new blood were brought into the political scene. It would be interesting to see what changes would be brought by the non-Barisan parties.

A good strategist knows that one of the best weapon in a conflict is patience. Waiting for the right time with the right strategy is truly essential in ensuring a lasting victory. In my opinion if UMNO and Barisan truly want to take back their 2/3 majority power in the future, they should use the next 5 years before the next elections to come up with a new strategy of winning and learn from their mistakes. Pak Lah has to step up. Malaysians are not stupid. Loyalty to one's race and ideologies is one thing, but that is no longer the key factor in ensuring a win in an election. So open your eyes Barisan.

In a way, this ultimatum given by Tun Dr. Mahathir may be a good thing. Maybe it'll scare Pak Lah and the rest of the UMNO cohorts to actually step up their game in order to prove to Tun that they can actually do well even without his support. Come on Pak Lah... you can do it!! Show the world what you're made of!

Whats up with blogger?

I am horribly unhappy with blogger's new system. I loved my old template but somehow they refuse to allow me to make any changes to them anymore so I had to upgrade and go with the utterly boring standard template.

Or maybe I'm stuck with it coz I am just utterly hopeless at HTML.This is probably the actual case but...

whatever! I wanna blame blogger.com

So I'm currently in the midst of trying to personalise this horrendously pink template of mine. So far I've managed a few things but I still have not stamped my personality on it at all. Darn it...

Too lazy to change domains and start from scratch. I guess I'll be stuck with this pink vomit for a while.

THANK YOU SO MUCH BLOGGER.COM... *not

Melodic Poetry

This is probably one of the best songs that I've heard in a long time. Ray LaMontagne... you have found yourself another hardcore fan.

Be Here Now
~Ray LaMontagne~

Don't let your mind get weary and confused..y
our will be still; don't try.
Don't let your heart get heavy, child
inside you there's a strength that lies.

Don't let your soul get lonely, child
it's only time; it will go by.
Don't look for love in faces, places
it's in you; that's where you'll find kindness.

Be here.. be here now.. be here now..
be.. be here now.. be here now...

Don't lose your faith in me,
and I will try not to lose faith in you.
Don't put your trust in walls,
'cause walls will only crush you when they fall.

Be...be here now... be here now.
Be...be here now...be here now.

Whitney-First ever Full Figured Model to win ANTM

Whitney - the first ever full-figured model to ever win America's next top model. As much as I applaud the fact that a normal looking woman was chosen as a winner for once, I cant shake the feeling that somehow her win was just a gimmick. A marketing ploy to boost up ratings for the show. Yeah sure she's HOT and take undoubtedly great pics (sometimes) and totally killed the Versace runway but one cant dismiss the fact that she was nearly sent home 4 times. Plus her rival Anya constantly gives fantastic pictures. Rumours has it that Tyra wants a full-figured model to win coz she too has luscious curves.

But that being said, lets just hope that Whitney maintain her full-figuredness and not turn out to be another wafer, stick-thin model after being in the fashion industry. Lots of luck Whitney!!

Girl's Nite Out

I pray to God that hopefully I'll never ever be as desperate as this girl. Funny Vid though!

Pathetically Single?

Who's more pathetic? A lone person at the cafe, sipping coffee and reading a book all alone or a couple who's holding hands, are loving and yet their lives only revolves around each other? Which would you prefer?

I fall into the former category. I'm very much single though not for the lack of trying. I guess there's nobody out there at the moment that is just right for me. So yeah I do go to cafes alone to enjoy a latte or two. I can stay there for hours enjoying a good book or surfing the internet amidst the busy buzz of coffee lovers. I also enjoy shopping, going to the movies, the theater and once in a while a poetry gig or movie shorts previews. And yes... I dont mind doing all these activities alone. So why out of 10 people, 8 would deem me pathetic?

Being single in a couple-oriented world is like social suicide. Like a zit on an otherwise blemish-free skin. You can really get rid of it but its there, sticking out like a sore thumb. Only time can actually rid the world of the zit. Time or a really good pimple cream.

Could it be that the idea of being fabulously single (fabulously single as in enjoying life even though you're not a half in a couple) as pathetic is just another indication that people are merely afraid of those who are independant and happy. Or perhaps jealousy that people actually do enjoy life beyond what couple-dom holds.

So anyways, if my enjoying my own company is considered pathetic then so be it. Then I am pathetic and loving it!
